Geographies of Developing Areas: The Global South in a Changing World

This is a textbook that introduces students to the geography of developing areas in a novel and challenging way. Rather than presenting the Global South to students as a set of problems (rapid urbanisation, population growth, poverty, etc.) this book focuses on the diversity of life in the South, and looks at the role the South plays in shaping and responding to current global change. Thought-provoking and accessible, this new edition has been fully updated and highlights cross-cutting themes around security, risk and violence; environmental sustainability and climate change; and the impact of ICT on patterns of North-South and South-South exchange.
