Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages

Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages is a closely related sequel to my Ubi Caritas published in 2007. Re-imagining some of the same material, such as the main theme from the first piece, Ubi Caritas II is in one sense a more sunny version of its prequel.
While Ubi Caritas II functions as an independent work, it is also intended to be used in combination with the other piece, for example as prelude/postlude ‘bookends’, perhaps yielding a sense of unity and conclusion to the concert or recording. In those cases, I would usually recommend ending with Ubi Caritas II.

Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages ist eine Neubearbeitung Gjeilos seines 2007 erschienenen Ubi Caritas. Er hat das gleiche musikalische Material einschließlich des Hauptthemas der ersten Fassung verwendet. Der Charakter dieser Version ist jedoch etwas fröhlicher und unbeschwerter. Ubi Caritas II kann als eigenständiges Werk aufgeführt werden oder auch in Verbindung mit der Originalfassung, z.B. als Vor- und Nachspiel, um eine Aufnahme oder ein Konzertprogramm einzurahmen. In diesem Fall empfiehlt der Komponist, mit Ubi Caritas II zu schließen.
