London Transport, created by Act of Parliament, commenced operations on 1 July 1933. John Glover extensively photographed the London Underground in the last three decades of the twentieth century, documenting a fascinating period during its history. This book brings the best together including the opening of the Victoria line (1968–72), the extension of the Piccadilly line to Heathrow Central (1977) and Terminal (4), the establishment of the Jubilee line to Charing Cross and its separation from the Bakerloo (1979), the opening of the London Transport Museum at Covent Carden (1980), the closure of Blake Hall station, Central line (1981), the withdrawal of Bakerloo services to Watford Junction (1982) and the major exhibition held at Acton Works to mark the Golden Jubilee of what was by now London Underground Ltd (1983).
